The workshop emerged from a collaborative initiative driven by the goal of addressing global healthcare challenges through a comprehensive health systems perspective. This reflects the current healthcare landscape marked by the simultaneous development of highly complex technologies (e.g., personalized medicine) and widening disparities in access and outcomes. As healthcare faces growing pressures—such as the adoption of digital health solutions, increasing workforce strain, and the rise of specialized care (rare diseases, orphan conditions)—the workshop sought to explore ways to address these challenges. The aim was to combine diverse expertise, including systems engineering, economics, epidemiology, and implementation science, to develop more effective health systems models, ready to embrace novel and complex technological innovations.
